Questions

Straight answers

When do I get paid?

Loads you deliver Saturday through Friday are paid by direct deposit the following Friday. Need it sooner? Quick pay is available for a 7% fee.

What comes out of my gross?

Our fee is 10% when you run your own truck and trailer, and 13% for power only and hotshot. It covers authority, dispatch and factoring. If you use our insurance, cargo ($250 a week for semi, $200 for hotshot) and bobtail liability ($100 a week) come out of your share, plus fuel. Every charge is on your weekly settlement.

Do you hold escrow?

No. There are no escrow fees, no hidden fees and no penalty for ending the lease.

Are there upfront fees?

No. Freight, dispatch and authority fees come out of your weekly gross. You pay nothing before you start.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. There are no long-term contracts or binding commitments.

Do I need my own MC and USDOT numbers?

No. You operate under JLC Logistics' operating authority.

Can I work with you while on the S.A.P. program?

Yes, for semi and hotshot owner-operators who meet our safety and licensing requirements. Let your recruiter know your status on the first call.

Can I start without insurance and plates?

Yes, apply first. We set you up with insurance and temporary plates ($350 for 45 days, valid in all 48 states). Both come out of your weekly settlement, so nothing is paid out of pocket.

Do I need a CDL for hotshot?

Yes. Hotshot owner-operators need a CDL-A and proven experience as a hotshot driver.

What trailer do I need for hotshot?

A 35 ft+ flat gooseneck with an upper deck and 13,000+ lb payload capacity, plus securement gear: 4 chains, 4 binders, 5-10 dunnage and 8-10 straps. A 4-6 ft tarp is preferred.

Is there a sign-on bonus?

Yes, up to $800 for semi-truck owner-operators with an open-deck trailer.

Do you pay layovers and detention?

Yes. Layovers, detention and TONU (truck ordered, not used) are paid.

Can I rent a trailer?

Yes. We match a trailer to the freight you want to haul. The weekly rate depends on the state, so your recruiter quotes it on the first call.

How fast do I get the fuel card?

Within minutes of your first pickup. Your dispatcher emails the digital code with instructions. Use it at the pump or in the app, with no card fees.

Do you provide an ELD?

No. Use any compliant ELD you already have. We don't provide or monitor devices.
